BEECHER, Ill. — A woman and child were killed in a crash near Beecher Monday morning.
Three others — like two children –were hurt
Around 8:30 a.m., 29-year-old Lindsey Schmidt and her three young children were in an Subaru at the intersection of Yates and Corning when their car had been struck at high speed by a pickup truck.
The driver of this truck was a guy in his 20s who had been on his way.
The Schmidt and her 1-year-old boy Kaleb Schmidt expired at the scene. Her two children, ages 4 and 7, were taken into the hospital in serious condition.
Schmidt was four weeks pregnant.
This truck’s driver suffered minor injuries and is interfering with an investigation. He says he needed his cruise control set.
There’s no sign of alcohol or drugs.
