CALGARY: National Collection Week for Samaritan’s Purse’s Operation Christmas Child program has come and gone, but there are helpful selections available for Canadians who need to package gift-filled shoeboxes for hurting children in developing nations.
1. Residents of southern Ontario can fall off shoeboxes in our processing center (400 Southgate Dr. in Guelph) up to noon on Dec. 8.
2. Pack and ship shoeboxes online at PackaBox.ca.
People who choose the online strategy to fill shoeboxes may decide whether they need their boxes to visit girls or boys. Next, they can choose the age range: 2-4, 5-9, or 10-14. According to those choices, a group of era- and – gender-appropriate present items will be packed into every box. The donor may also select among a menu of different items, and further personalize their boxes by uploading a photograph and note.
“We hear from the children and their families who get the shoeboxes how meaningful the photo and personal message will be,” said Fred Weiss, Executive Director of Samaritan’s Purse Canada, of which Operation Christmas Child is a vital yearly project. “Many individuals have told us the way the photos, messages, and the gifts brought them reminded them that they weren’t forgotten– that someone is thinking about them and praying to them.”
Canadians went online to fulfill nearly 7,000 with gifts via PackaBox.ca throughout the 2016 shoebox season–that totaled over 664,000 shoeboxes, including most those packed the standard way. Each one has been an opportunity to share the love and hope of Jesus Christ with children in the developing world.
