Three months after having a 54-year-old British national had been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting three visually impaired boys in a school for blind in RK Puram, police said the accused had been earlier booked at an “child abuse” case in the UK but had been acquitted there for lack of proof.
Authorities, while submitting the chargesheet in the event last week, advised a town court they’ve requested their counterparts in the UK for details of the scenario, but are yet to receive any response out of them.
Sources told The Indian Express that the Delhi Police registered an over 100-page chargesheet detailing the scientific evidence against the accused, in addition to details of alleged cellular chats with small boys.
The chargesheet also cites two records of the boys in the school.
Police sources stated that in an one-minute video, the accused, Murray Dennis Ward, is seen sitting and speaking with the three boys at a hostel room, while at a 16-second video, he is seen supposedly indulging in a sexual activity together.
The video was created by a staff member, who advised after which a call has been made to police school police and Ward was arrested on September 4.
Police advised the court that through evaluation they contacted counterparts in the UK and were advised that Ward had been reserved at a child abuse case in 2006, but had been acquitted for lack of proof. They also advised the court the Interpol to ascertain if he had been involved in a criminal case in every part of the world has been approached by them.
Police maintained that during interrogation, Ward said he was “providing sex education to the children”. During investigation, police retrieved alleged chats with different persons, including the three boys from the blind school, on his mobile phone. They chatted using a unique app for the differently abled. Police sources declared he had requested the boys to delete the chats.
Authorities, in their chargesheet, also stated that just three children from the school — just two aged 13 and yet another 14 years — have emerged as victims so far.
Authorities said they ran counselling of their schoolchildren and set up a complaint box, telling them that their names could be kept secret. No one turned out.
The police said they have enough evidence to demonstrate their charges from Ward in the court. They also stated they were awaiting the forensic record of his mobile phone and notebook. The reports will be inserted in the chargesheet.
Police has advised the court that Ward, who has been India because October 2016, had begun visiting the school about 10 months before, and used to contribute things like books and clothes to children there. He had been operating in a multinational company in Gurgaon and has been remaining in Vasant Kunj at a rented accommodation.
A case has been registered under POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act. Soon advised the High Commission. Police sources stated that they have been approached by none of his family members as of today. He is lodged in Tihar Jail.
